Hyderabad Traffic Police, Makro Foundation and Confederation of Voluntary Association (COVA) has promoted “The World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims” to mark the worldwide commitment and action to increase public awareness of the burden of road traffic collisions on 3rd Sunday of November 2011 from 24th November –30th November 11.
The objective was to raise Awareness amongst High School Students on Safety on Roads, and Encourage People to Adopt Road Friendly Behavior
Road Peace, the United Kingdom charity for road traffic victims, first initiated the Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims in 1993. On 26 October 2005, the United Nations General Assembly adopted resolution 60/5 on improving global road safety and mark the third Sunday in November to be recognized as an annual day of remembrance for road traffic victims.
In order to mark the “The World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims” on 20th November 2011 MaFo and COVA organized a week long awareness drives in schools on Safety on Roads from 24th November 2011-30th November 2011.

· Date: 21st November 2011- 25th November 2011 ***Duration: 45 minutes each school
· Event: Awareness and Education in 2 schools Everyday in Old City area.
· Area: Old City, Charminar Area covering 5 mandals.
Target Group: Students of IXth and Xth. Coverage: 1090 school children
Outcome: The series of events was organized to raise awareness through Collaboration and partnerships that Road Accidental Death is a social issue and by promoting Road Friendly behavior we can help in raising awareness on this issue, which is not only a major public health and development problem, but also a social issue.
